JOB DUTIES

• Instructors shall also use the companion instructor's guide and workbook to prepare students for exams and assessments. 
• Communicate effectively with students and those affiliated with the course, including all staff at clinical training facilities and MCCC staff.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in pharmacy to keep course content relevant.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Develop and deliver engaging, comprehensive lesson plans in pharmacy technician training.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance. 
• Prepare students for Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other relevant exams.
• Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation and interpersonal skills development. 
• Provide hands-on training in laboratory and clinical settings, teaching skills like dispensing medications, compounding, and maintaining patient records.
• Offer academic support and mentorship to students to help them succeed in their educational and career goals.
• Evaluate and document student progress through testing, observation, and assessing skills to determine whether each student has completed each course satisfactorily. 
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting including the ability to lift 50 pounds. Willingness to work on a flexible schedule to meet educational requirements. 

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require: ability to use a keyboard, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work:  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

• Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited educational institution.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or Licensed Pharmacist (RPh or PharmD) with a valid certification/license. 
• At least one year of experience in lesson planning, lesson delivery, evaluation and/or remediation in a health care setting with experience gained in such positions as in-service coordinator, staff educator, or other health personnel.
• Demonstrable instructional experience and dedication to student success. 
• One - two (1 - 2) years' experience teaching Pharmacy Technician courses.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, adapting teaching methods as needed.
• Proficiency in technology and ability to use virtual learning platforms if necessary.
• Enthusiastic about contributing to a learning-centered and student-focused environment.
• Familiarity with student assessment tools and methods.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems promptly.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's Degree in related field required from an accredited educational institution. 
• Two - four (2 - 4) years of experience teaching Pharmacy Technician courses at a Community College.
• Prior Experience in educational program development and instructional design.
