The role youll contribute:

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The primary responsibility is the provision of medication distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medications, inventory management, and regulatory compliance. Performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs. Accurately responds to medication dispensing requests, prepares medications for pharmacist final review/check, delivers checked medications, and returns unused or expired medications to appropriate pharmacy areas. Prepares and organizes pharmacy medications by name and dosage, as listed on patient orders. Supports pharmacists and provides distributive pharmacy services to ensure safe and accurate medication services, supporting all those involved in direct patient care.

• AND Performs primary job function as: * Medication History technician OR Inventory specialist * Participates in appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems. Maintains expertise in electronic health record system and be able to accurately interpret electronic records as needed * Accurately completes medication inventories and accurately prepares and dispenses patientspecific medication doses. Prevents improper drug, dose, dosage form selection, expiration dating, and barcode scanning issues when checking products * Performs oral and injectable compounding, if applicable * Carries out special projects or assignments as directed by supervisor or manager * Understands how to handle process and appropriately dispose of all waste materials, including all levels of hazardous waste, within the department. Knowledgeable about the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Hazardous Medication Spill Kits in the event of a hazardous medication spill.
• Pharmacy Practice * Facilitates medication safety practices by identifying and reporting potential medication errors such as look-alike sound-alike medications. * Prepares and delivers medication in an accurate, safe and timely manner

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed:

• High School Grad or Equiv Required
• 2 years experience Required
• Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date Required
• One or more of the following REQUIRED : Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date OR Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
