JOB SUMMARY: Perform all tasks related to the preparation of prescription medication under the supervision of a pharmacist; maintain drug inventory under the supervision of a pharmacist; accept requests for medication refills from patients and prepare the medication for refill under the supervision of a pharmacist; provide excellent customer service; other duties as assigned.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Workplace Computer and Equipment • Accurately enters prescription drug data into computer
Checking, Examining, and Recording • Checks all labels generated against the original written prescription for accuracy • Orders, receives and monitors drug inventory • Ensures that patients receive all medications upon pick-up • Receives prescriptions from patients and consistently fills out an intake sheet • Performs all outtake procedures as instructed to ensure medications are correct • Signs prescriptions out of pharmacy, receives payment, processes credit payments
Compliance, Policy, and Procedure • Is aware most pharmacy policies and procedures and regularly seeks to adhere to them
Communication • Treats patients and co-workers in a respectful and confidential manner • Courteously and quickly responds to co-workers and patients request for service or back-up. • Consistently interacts with customers and co-workers in a patient, professional manner • Greets patients and co-workers with a professional, friendly greeting over the phone or in person
Integrity • Is aware of patient confidentiality and takes steps to preserve it.
Patient Focus • Appropriately triages patient to triage when unable or meet requests • Accepts refill requests from patients and providers and sends flags if necessary to expedite accessibility
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: • Required: High school Diploma or GED • Desired: Working formal knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years in college) • Required: Current Maryland State Pharmacy Technician Certificate in good standing. • Basic mathematical skills • Attention to detail and sense of urgency • Desired: 1-2 years pharmacy technician experience in retail pharmacy setting • Fluent communication in Spanish language • Retail Pharmacy Experience • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
