Position Information: The Pharmacy Technician performs a variety of tasks related to prescription processing, inventory management, and customer service under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role supports drug distribution, including the preparation, packaging, and labeling of medications, as well as maintaining pharmacy records and assisting with drug inventory control.
Please Note: This position's classification and salary range are currently under review. This is a per diem position, and the anticipated classification is 9278 PHARMACY TCHN 2 PD with a flat rate of $30.34/hour (Step 11).
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Experience Requirements
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare professionals.
Required
Experience interpreting and processing provider orders accurately.

Experience with ProPharm One or other pharmacy management software.
Preferred
License Requirements
Active California Pharmacy Technician License in good standing, as required by state law.

Minimum Requirements
Strong knowledge of pharmacy technology.
Strong knowledge of brand and generic drug names, medical abbreviations, and drug formularies
Proficiency in math skills for performing pharmacy-related calculations.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with insurance billing processes and medication coverage restrictions.
Clear and legible handwriting.
Knowledge of California pharmacy laws and regulations.

Department Custom Scope The Pharmacy Technician performs a variety of tasks related to prescription processing, inventory management, and customer service under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role supports drug distribution, including the preparation, packaging, and labeling of medications, as well as maintaining pharmacy records and assisting with drug inventory control.

Drug Distribution:
Review prescription orders for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Patient registration: collect and record demographic information, drug allergies, and insurance information.
Prescription order entry: type prescriptions as ordered by the providers into the pharmacy software.
Filling prescriptions, which includes retrieving the appropriate medication from stock, accurately counting the required quantity, and affixing labels onto the containers.
Perform a final verification check for accuracy

Inventory Control:
Help monitor and manage pharmacy inventory to ensure adequate stock of medications and medical supplies.
Prepare and process purchase requisitions as necessary.
Restock prescription and over-the-counter medications as needed.
Perform inventory-related tasks, including receiving and logging new stock, handling drug returns, and managing expired medications.
Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
